Many of us try to look our smartest, and be our most charming selves at the check-in desk - hoping to snag that upgrade into First.
But we’re going about it all wrong, flight attendants say.
Traveller Catriona Harvey-Jenner asked British Airways flight attendants what the secret was, in a piece for Cosmopolitan.
Harvey-Jenner says that the secret isn’t a sharp suit or a winning smile - it’s much more practical than that.
Harvey-Jenner writes, ‘All you do, apparently, to give you a better chance of being upgraded is to avoid pre-selecting a seat when you check in online prior to your flight.
‘If you’ve already set yourself up with a seat, you’re sorted in the airline’s eyes. But if you’re still potentially floating anywhere around the plane, then there’s at least a glimm
