Weird tiled flat to rent
This London pad covered in 'swimming pool' tiles could be yours for £900 a month
Blue tiles. They're almost everywhere in this north London flat that's been compared to an empty swimming pool.
The one-bedroom celebration of ceramics, located a short walk from
Walthamstow train station, is listed for rent on property website
SpareRoom for £900 a month. It has an open-plan living room with kitchen, double bedroom and separate toilet.
Most of floors and walls are clad in the grey-blue tiles, presumably appealing to clean freaks, or perhaps those who'd like their home to double as an operating theatre.
Party people may also be attracted to the apartment, which could easily be hosed down after a night of revelling. A few well-placed rugs and tapestries probably wouldn't hurt though.
"It's certainly not something you see every day," said Matt Hutchinson, director of SpareRoom.
"This wipe-clean Walthamstow pad might appeal to someone who doesn't like dust, but it could be tricky to shake the feeling you're living in a swimming pool."
There is, apparently, some refuge: although not demonstrated in the ad's photos, the letting agent says the bedroom is separate and tile-free.
The apartment is available to rent "now" and doesn't require any committments regarding the duration of the lease. Letting agent Century 21 is unlikely to have much trouble finding a taker.
High demand for rental properties in London has sent prices skyrocketing to all-time highs.
The average room rent for London is currently £747 a month, while in Walthamstow it's £607 per month - but that's just for a room in a share flat or house.
So getting this whole place to yourself for £900 a month would seem quite reasonable - especially for tile lovers.
